I did several technical interviews for Front End developer position over the past few month.
Not all companies gave me proper feedback but I got some feedbacks which I found it useful. It might be useful for you as well so I want to share them with you.
1) Review the Fundamentals
A couple weeks ago, I experienced notorious coding on the white board for the first time. Even though all tasks I was given by interviewer were not so difficult but I couldn’t write good code at all.
As a result, I failed in this interview. The good thing was that a head of engineer who interviewed me was thoughtful and attentive. He sent me a detailed feedback.
He pointed out that I should review the fundamentals of JavaScript. His recommendation was to use ‘ JavaScript30’, online course made by WesBoss.
Wes’s online course are great. I immediately went through his course. If you haven’t done it yet, I strongly recommend it!
2) Practice ! Practice ! Practice !
The other company sent me a rejection email with detailed feedback as well. Their feedback was that I need to practice more, experience more.
How?
They also gave some resources that I can use for improvement ;
Hackerrank
Codewars
Nodeschool.io
You might have already know. If you don’t know them yet, it worths checking them. Currently I’m trying to solve at least one quiz from Codewars everyday.
I received some other feedbacks but I think these two points are most important for people who wants to get first development job, like me.
If you get useful feedback or resources through your technical interview, please share with everyone using the comment area below! :)
